Time's Up!
The Pomodoro Technique, in one timer
The Pomodoro Technique, developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s, structures work into short, focused intervals separated by breaks — named after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer he originally used. The classic pattern is simple:
- Work for 25 minutes, fully focused on one task.
- Take a 5 minute break when the alarm goes off.
- After four rounds, take a longer break — 15 to 30 minutes.
Running a Pomodoro round here
The timer opens set to 25 minutes — press Start to begin a round. When the alarm sounds, use Reset and the 5 minute preset for your break, then repeat. Because your custom presets are saved locally, you only have to set the 5-minute break preset up once.
Why the interval length matters
Twenty-five minutes is short enough that starting doesn't feel daunting, but long enough to get meaningfully into a task. The scheduled break isn't a distraction from the work — it's what keeps focus sustainable across several rounds instead of burning out on the first one.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to use exactly 25 and 5 minutes?
No — the classic technique uses 25/5, but the underlying idea (focused work, then a real break) works with any proportional lengths. Adjust the duration fields to whatever fits your work.
Can the timer automatically switch between work and break intervals?
Not automatically yet — reset and pick your next interval's preset manually between rounds. Your custom presets make this a one-click switch.
